Two
to receive alumni awards from Department of Political Science
Two graduates of the Department of Political Science will be recognized
at Iowa State University's Homecoming with alumni awards from the department.
Stephen Graham, a 1973 graduate in political science and
an attorney from Seattle, Wash., and Sheila Lundt, the Ames assistant
city manager, will be recognizedon Friday, Oct. 20, in a series of events.
Lundt received a bachelor's degree in political science and international
studies from Iowa State in 1978 and a master's in political science
in 1982.
Graham is chair of Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP ‘s 300+ attorney
Corporate Department. He founded Orrick's Seattle corporate practice
in 2000. Under his direction and leadership, the Seattle office has
quickly become recognized as one of Seattle's premier law offices.
He focuses his practice in the areas of private and public mergers and
acquisitions, public offerings, private placements, and general corporate
matters including advising boards of directors, audit, compensation
and nominating/corporate governance committees, preparation and filing
of periodic SEC reports and other securities law compliance, including
the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. His diverse practice is focused on the representation
of emerging and established high growth companies, as well as major
investment banking and venture capital firms.
A frequent speaker on securities and corporate law matters, Graham is
active in community affairs, currently serving on the Board of Directors
of the Washington Biotechnology and Biomedical Association and the Board
of Directors of the Friends of the Children of King County.
Prior to joining Orrick, Graham was at Perkins Coe LLP from 1976-2000.
He received his J.D. from Yale Law School.
Lundt serves as the assistant city manager in the City of Ames and has
dedicated her career to public service.
Lundt has been a member of the Iowa City/County Management Association
Board of Directors and is a current member of the League of Iowa Cities
Education Committee.
She is the recipient of the Dwight Ink Public Service Award from Iowa
State University and was inducted into the Ames Chamber of Commerce
Hall of Fame in 1999.
Lundt has also continued to be active with Iowa State. She served on
the ISU President's Advisory Committee on Diversity for several years,
is a member of the Order of the Knoll, has served as a VEISHEA advisor
and was on the search committee that selected Gene Smith as Iowa State's
athletic director.
She has also been a member of the Department of Political Science's
Public Policy and Administration Advisory Board since 2002.
