Lucken
honored by ISU Foundation
Kent Lucken, a 1986 political science graduate, has been named a recipient
of the ISU Foundation's Order of the Knoll Young Alumnus Award. Previously
Lucken had received the ISU Alumni Association's Young Alumnus Award
in 2002.
Lucken worked 14 years with the U.S. Department of State, completing
assignments in Europe and the Soviet Bloc. He served as the first diplomat
to the newly independent Republic of Georgia following the collapse
of the Soviet Union. Although no longer working for the U.S. Government,
he still dabbles in international relations, and led a Congressional
Staff delegation to visit China, Tibet and Hong Kong in 2004.
He continues to utilize his international experiences in his current
role as a director of the Citigroup Private Bank in Boston, where he
provides global wealth management expertise to international entrepreneurs.
A co-founder of the Washington, DC alumni chapter, and Lucken serves
on the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Dean's Advisory Council.
He and his wife Kristen have recently established a scholarship in Political
Science at Iowa State.
As an undergraduate, Lucken was an extremely engaged student, serving
as senior class president, a supreme court justice within the Government
of the Student Body, and leadership roles in Farm House Fraternity and
the Intercollegiate Athletic Council.
