Axworthy gives Manatt-Phelps Lecture
Lloyd Axworthy, president of The University of Winnipeg, gave the Manatt-Phelps Lecture in Political Science on October 30 at Iowa State. Axworthy (above, center) is pictured with Ambassador Charles Manatt and Kathleen Manatt. Axworthy, a prominent Canadian politician and statesman from Manitoba, spoke on "A Canadian Conversation with the New U.S. President." He is best known for having served as Minister of Foreign Affairs under Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chretien. He is a member of the Commission on Legal Empowerment of the Poor, the first global initiative to focus specifically on the link between exclusion, poverty and law.

William P. Angrick II, citizen's aide/ombudsman for the State of Iowa, has been named the 2008 Dwight Ink Public Service Award Winner by the Iowa State's Public Policy and Administration Program. More
Political science major receives LAS international student award
It's almost easier to list the countries that Jessica Maves hasn't been to while an Iowa State student. One professor described the senior as the student "with the most frequent flyer miles" on campus. In her four years at Iowa State, Maves has participated in four separate study abroad programs and she has been recognized for her international work with the 2008 LAS Student International Excellence Award. More
