The Ross Talbot Outstanding Graduating Senior Scholarship Award

Awarded to honor the academic and personal achievement of a graduating political science major.  Students eligible to be considered for this award must have achieved over four years an overall minimum 3.5 GPA in all academic courses at Iowa State University.

Amount: $750

Submit a one-page written statement formally applying for this scholarship including your name, address, e-mail address, phone number, overall GPA, and political science GPA with a list of the specific courses taken in political science at Iowa State.  In 1-2 paragraphs of the statement, discuss your immediate and long-term career goals that you intend to pursue following your graduation this May from Iowa State.  Please attach a resume to your application.

Don Hadwiger Working Student Scholarship Award

Awarded to an undergraduate political science major who works part-time to support the costs of attending ISU. Student must have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or better, be an undergraduate major in political science with at least sophomore standing, and show evidence of working to earn part of college expenses.

Amount: $500

Submit a one-page written statement formally applying for this scholarship including your name, address, e-mail address, phone number, overall GPA, list of courses and grades in the Dept. of Political Science, and a brief description of outside work activities to support college expenses.  Please attach a resume to your application.

Young W. Kihl Scholarship

Awarded to a junior or senior political science major with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5 who has demonstrated excellence in the field of international politics.

Amount:  $350

Submit a one-page written statement formally applying for this scholarship including your name, address, email address, phone number, GPA, a list of relevant courses in international politics and grades received in them, and a summary of your interest in or other activities related to international politics.  Please attach a resume to your application.


Serge Garrison Scholarship

Awarded to a student who will be a junior or senior political science major by Fall 2009 (students graduating prior to Spring 2010 are not eligible). 

Criteria:

  1. Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. 
  2. The recipient shall demonstrate leadership ability and excellence in campus and extra-curricular activities as evidenced by such things as: active participation/leadership role in a recognized student organization, active participation/leadership role in a professional organization, honors and awards received and/or active participation/leadership role in community service as determined by the awarding authority.
  3. First preference shall go to applicants from North Dakota or Iowa.
  4. Second preference shall go to applicants who demonstrate pre-law interests, as determined by the awarding authority.
  5. As a provision of receiving the scholarship the 3rd House requests that the scholarship recipient attend the annual reception sponsored by the 3rd House.

Submit a written statement formally applying for this scholarship including name, address, e-mail address, phone number, overall GPA, and a list of extra-curricular activities that demonstrate leadership ability and excellence in campus and extra-curricular activities (e.g. participation/leadership role in a recognized student organization, active participation/leadership role in a professional organization, honors and awards received and/or active participation/leadership role in community service).

Amount: $1,000.00

 

The 3rd House Memorial Scholarship

Awarded to a student who will be a junior or senior political science major by Fall 2009 (students graduating prior to Spring 2010 are not eligible).

3)      Preference shall go to applicants from Iowa.
4)            Final review and selection will be made by the 3rd House.  As a provision of receiving the scholarship the 3rd House requests that the scholarship recipient attend the annual reception sponsored by the 3rd House.
