Undergraduate Students
The study of political science is designed to enable students to
become familiar with theories of public values and patterns of national,
regional, and international political systems. A political science
major should complete a broad liberal arts program, which would maximize
opportunities to study in related social science disciplines, as well
as in various areas of humanities. Students will understand the interrelationships
of the subfields of political science, develop skills in analysis
and critical thinking, and be able to apply research methods relevant
to the discipline.
The Department of Political Science offers a B.A. degree in political
science for its undergraduate students.

Internships and Careers
The Department of Political Science believes that students who participate
in an internship during their course of study will enrich their college
educational experience. To encourage students to participate in these
opportunities, the Department offers academic credit for internships
related to political science. Internship credit is available to students
who have completed at least six hours of political science credit
and who have attained the academic rank of junior or senior. The purposes
of the internships are to offer students the opportunity to experience
practical application of the knowledge learned in academic courses,
to explore career options and to make contacts and build networks
that can assist in locating employment.
